HI :) Why can't I set my monitor subsidise to 1440*900? Replaced out of order vga cable immediately no 1440*900?

I replaced a not working vga cable today. When I turned the PC back on I couldn't set the res hindmost to 1440*900 on my 19". I also replaced the vga on my 32" conected to another PC and after updating the driver it works fine. The 19" is connected to an old Dell running onboard graphics. I've still get the full range of resolutions to choose from but no 1440*900, There's 1400*1050 & 1600*900 but no 1440*900 or 1680*1050. My 32" is hooked up to a 7900GS next to the same VGA. The eyeshade is set to 1360*768 but if I go to the Pro Evolution Soccer settings I can no longer set the spectator sport to this res. Is it the cables I bought? http://www.ebuyer.com/uk/product/21885...

The outdated PC is moving and will eventually be hooked up to an old 17" 4:3 and the 19" will be dual screen with a 32" but I'd similar to to get the settings right formerly everything moves to its final position.

Old PC = Dell Dimension 2350, XP SP2, Onboard 82845G, Belinea 1925S1W 19"

New PC = Home Build E6300, XP SP2, 7900GS,

Cheers :)

Hiya KFO.

If nothing else be touched except the cable the computer should not loose the ability to shift into a screen resolution. If you hooked up a different monitor contained by the process then XP might enjoy automatically installed different monitor drivers which would cause this. I own seen issues beside 1440 x 900 where it would verbs to change to a lower resolution, but not completely lose it. The cable may be suspect so try this:
Power bad, remove the monitor cable at both ends and inspect the pins for bends or crossovers. You should use small needle trunk pliers to straighten or bend any pins that look wrong.

Here is the recommendation:
Check to verify that the correct monitor is scheduled in the display properties. If not later change it and reboot as this should return the correct resolution option. If this does not work I would uninstall and reinstall: Right click on MY COMPUTER and select MANAGE. When the COMPUTER MANAGEMENT window open click on DEVICE MANAGER then initiate DISPLAY ADAPTERS. Double click your adapter and the PROPERTIES for it will open. Click the DRIVER tab on the top and next click the UNINSTALL button near the bottom. Agree beside any messages to finish the uninstall process, reboot and reinstall the drivers.

I hope this give you vertebrae your lost resolution.

GOOD LUCK!
I think I see the problem - it is not your vga cable. It is probably a unsound driver. Some drivers do not support widescreen resolutions such as the one you speak of. Look for drivers on the net, and hope for the best.

Another piece you can do is use system restore on winxp.
