I can't resize my monitor settings (Samsung) and it's stuck at 1600 X 1200...?

I've be trying to resize my monitor settings to 1280x1024 which is the recommended mode (i get a pop-up when my monitor first powers up that say: "not optimum mode: recommended mode - 1280x1024 60Hz". I follow the troubleshooting instructions, but when i go to Display Setting>Advanced>Monitor it say "Default Monitor" and I can't click on the "properties" button like it directs me to do.

I own one of those Samsung flat panel HD monitors, and I've re-installed the drivers but nothing seem to work...

Answer:
Older glass CRT monitors could be set to tons different screen resolutions.

LCD monitors single work properly at the Factory resolution. Your Samsung can only display at 1280 X 1024 AND a rejuvenate rate of 60HZ. That is exactly what it is doing.

You can make the manual and Icons bigger, if that's what you are trying to do. Right-click on the desktop and choose Properties, then, underneath the Settings Tab, click on the Advanced Button.

Under the General Tab, in the Display Pane, adjustment the DPI Setting to 120 DPI. If still not big enough, adjustment the DPI Setting using "Custom..." from the drop down menu.
no.. dont do that
instead of pushing the ADVANCED button, have u tried moving the slider right subsequent to it to 1280x1024??
