I'm sorry, but it would cost as much to repair it as to seize a new one. You would be best served throwing it away, throwing the boyfriend away and getting a modern monitor and new boyfriend.

the lcd is damaged, these cannot be repaired, but they can be replaced - not enormously cheaply though.
better to buy another one.
Step 1: Lose the boyfriend.
Step 2: Buy a new monitor.
When LCD screen are cracked, they look like what you see. The juice crystal is no longer in place and thus the monitor is useless (like your boyfriend).
1. Have the boyfriend buy a hot LCD monitor,(have you checked the COST?)
2.Get rid of boyfriend, pronto,(could it be you next?)
