I've always bought Samsung products, but you really can't travel wrong with any of them, a short time ago so as long as it's a reputable brand name and the monitor meet some basic requirements.
For instance, you want to shoot for anything at or over 8ms response time, so that you avoid problems near what's called "Ghosting" and flickering.
You also want to opt for something next to a good contrast rating. The lowest I'd be in motion for would be something with a 700:1 contrast ratio. This keep the monitor's colors nice and crisp, and improves the viewing angles at which you can cleary see the representation at.
