Have a Dell laptop and it works ok while running on mobile but when using ac adapter the eyeshade blacks out.?

Closing lid and reopening allows blind to come back on.Have checked power settings and replaced adapter but no luck, any assistance would be appreciated.

Yes Dell laptops do that kind of entity because that's what I have get to send you my answer and it's happen to me. The problem could be with the power control. If your OS is window XP...click start...control panel click on power options and contained by the boxes next to 'Turn bad monitor' choose "never" for plug and battery and also for turning past its sell-by date hard disks and for system standby...set it for "After 5hrs". Click apply. That's what mine is set at and it's working OK. Good luck beside your Dell laptop.
