Have also used it to dictation Powerpoint Presentations onto Videotape and used at work on 20 foot projection screen - looks amazing.
whit a tv in-out card
It is possible, check to see if you own the right connections on both the monitor/tv and your pc. Usually you must hold an outlet in your graphics card, TV-in/out.
you inevitability to buy a video card with tv out for you to use your tv as a monitor.
You CAN, but you aren't going to resembling what you see.
Graphics on a regular TV screen don't compare to those on a true computer monitor.
Text is outstandingly tough to read.
DVI Cable or S Video Cable, if your TV is decent. If DVI set as elevated as you want, if S video 800 x 600.
Hi Desmc

"kokomojo" is right on the money.

Here's the situation: I don't know about your antediluvian monitor, but typically, even monitors going back nearly 5-7 years tend to have resolutions contained by the range of at smallest 800x600 to 1024x768. While this is not an exact comparison (like, tv has round dots while monitors enjoy square pixels), a *good* tv resolution (I mean the traditional clunky description, not high-def) is like conceivably 3-400 lines of resolution, or roughly half as crisp on the *high* expiration. While watching movies or playing games is fine, yeah, as koko says, simply *anything* to do with manuscript will be a disaster.

You shouldn't have an issue getting another, better monitor: as associates are more and more upgrading to flatscreen (lcd) monitors, the big clunky (crt) monitors are going for a song; some are even *giving* them away (as it's technically illegal to merely throw them away... hazardous waste; toxic components within)...even 19-21 inch ones.

For the transcript, however, to completely answer your question, to hook up a tv as your monitor output you'd stipulation a graphics card with a port that's compatible next to your tv (or maybe your vcr/tivo..anything you kids use these days!); a 64mb (maybe you can gain away with a 32mb card if they still market them) card with tv out beside rca and s-video ports along with a port for a computer monitor would be inexpensive... or one next to a monitor port and Dvi port for the hdtv's would probably run the same price. Typically, these cards are categorized as have "dual monitor" support.

Likely, the best resolution a conventional tv will allow you is 1024x768, but everything will be tiny; 800x600 would be easier to read, but then some of the monitor would be cut sour.
