If the monitor plug is not lose, consequently you will need a unmarked monitor. Consider a Flat Panel monitor at this point. Visit http://www.newegg.com and you will find some nice 19inch LCD monitors for under $210. I just now bought a number of Samsung LCDs and they adjectives worked out great.
Could be a bad monitor...if it's beneath warranty, get it serviced. If not, merely buy a new one...it's not worth it to fix it.

If everything turns green, you can try giving your monitor a moment or two thwack on the top or the side.
