ok if you have little buttons on your computer eyeshade click one and find the color settings. lower the amount of red in the eyeshade. if that doesn't work you should get a spanking new moniter because it has probably gone bleak
Did you try Degauss on it? There might be static that cause color distortion within your monitor. Some monitor by accessing the menu allow you to use Deguass to remove static that disrupts color.

Try checking your monitor settings in the software and locate your gamma settings - probably they are all messed up. I've never hear of what you are describing happen to a flat peak, but I HAVE seen that surface on tube monitors and the answer has other been - throw away the monitor - it's not worth getting fixed.
I'd try shifting back to regular VGA drivers, unloading your video driver and loading the most recent driver onto your computer since ditching things. One thing that CAN appear is that a single PIN on the video cable can get trashed and that can make happen one color to go wierd... I've see that happen. See if you can swap video cable to make the problem jump away. That's the easy sudden fix to try first.
