Why does my screenres translation from 1024x768 pixels to 800x600?

when you're shifting your setting from the desktop properties, as you've written, you'll have to adjust to the rank you want then click on APPLY and afterwards click on OK. If it's still showing you the wrong settings after reboot, that means that your symbolic card or the monitor itself are not capable of showing those settings.
reinstall your card driver...
you may enjoy a restore prog like insightful freez or else but any course if you don't have you may own to improve the vga card
your monitor is not compatible next to your video card. throw the monitor away get one beside a higher resolution. 1024x768 compatible
if you installed an software this may conversion the size to 800x600
you can resize your desktop size by :
1-right click on the desktop
2-select propertes
3-settings from the main tab
4-chnge eyeshade resulation to 1024x768
sounds like any your monitor or graphics card does not support PnP. hence every time you reboot the machine it tries to determine the correct setting, and get it wrong
if you play games or watch video that are 800x600 size the screen will automaticly agust to the size needed as if it go higher the pixles "picture" will look bleak and unclear and slow down so its shifting the screen to fit the programe
if it doesent move about back to the defult after ask an i.t tecnition to look at it
When you are changing properties, "setting tab" after "click advance" then "monitor tab" check the box that say "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" then conceivably you realise your monitor limit is at 800x600 simply. Maybe thats why you can't set it at 1024x768.
