When you say 'blinking to black', do you plan that it goes black for a few second, then blinks vertebrae to normal? If so, explicitly normal for a monitor - It is when the monitor is automatically refreshing itself and re-adjusting its resolution.
Alternatively, you may merely need unknown drivers for your graphics card =)
-first check the connection to get sure its good.
-check the cable by moving it around and seeing what happen to see if the wiring is messed up
-check for investigational graphics card drivers and for special drivers from Samsung for that monitor.
Sounds like interference, especially if within an older house. Anyway it is massively important to construct sure you have a surge protector regardless.
