Can elder monitors blow out when used near high-power (gaminq qual) computers?

I lately attached a very aged monitor (weighed about 35lbs!) to my high-speed custom computer. It worked for almost 3 days, then freshly wouldn't bring up anything - comletely black screen. I did enjoy a surge protector; was using cable internet. Thanks for any info .

Answer:
Old monitors die because they are hoary.

The higher the re-acquaint yourself with rate and resolution the more stress you put on a CRT, that may have have an effect.

Another factor if it had not be used for a while is that the electrolytic capacitors can dry out if they are stored for a long time (years).
Older CRT monitors can and frequently do go discouraging, the LCD (the skinny ones) monitors take up a great deal less space, smaller quantity energy and are safer, CRTs can hold ample electricity to kill you for several years after they are unplugged, mind your Ps and Qs to dispose of it properly at a recycling center.

You can pickup a 17" LCD for give or take a few $200 (US)
