Check your display settings. Right click on the desktop, go to properties, and generate sure the resolution is set right, otherwise, you would have a blind woth a black broder around it, possibly. I have no view if this answers your questions.

In the long run widescreen will be better. Most Movies are all all set widescreen, and TVshows & video games are beginning to convert as capably (FINALLY!)
F11? pressing F11 will make your eyeshade go to full eyeshade
