If you set your computer graphics card output to 800 by 600 and use at most minuscule 18 font, your text should be readable. As to whether you can hook it up to your TV it depends on the output on your video card, but most cards come beside SVideo outputs, so should be possible.
Some you can - read the manual it should influence if it ihas a pc mode. If it does afterwards yes the text should be clear.
