what are the gamut of values that would have to be agreed befoore purchasing a moniter?
Am primarily starting to learn computers please explain close to you are explaining to a child

It is better that you buy the best monitor , buy LCD for your eye's safty .
First of all it's computer "monitors" and near role is to display whatever the computer have on it. Prices can range depending if you want a flat monitor LCD or a CRT which is cheaper and have gone out of style. To buy a good feature LCD screen would be probably above $250 but to buy a pious quality one would be in good health above $300. Were as CRT's even though they are bulky they will give you the best celebration.
