How old is your monitor? I've have 2 monitors grow dark and it's amazing how it happen so slowly that you know it's dark but hold no idea *how* shade until someone else sits down to use it and isn't used to it...or when you get a unusual one. My suggestion is if it's over 5 years old (and yes, they should later longer but...), consider getting a new one. "It's time to consent to it go."
