How do i adjust my pixels to where on earth they r majority size -i cant move the resolution bar-?

my pixel size is stuck on 600 something by 400 something. i want to achieve it to a normal size where on earth i can c the whole eyeshade without have to scroll side to side. Again i can't change te resolution lump in setting surrounded by desktop properties! i have a dell.
