I bought a laptop a best buy...never again!?
Answer:
Not sure of the legalities of adjectives that, but I would ask for a copy of their return policy. I would also contact your states consumer protection agency and see what you can do. If anything, try to fix it yourself by reinstalling windows (assuming vista) or wipe the disk out and put xp on it.
hold it back for exchange and notify them it's defective.
if you are within the 15 time window, they enjoy no choice.
if you waited too long, dispatch it in to hp, it'll be fixed right the first time.
You can't return a laptop to Best Buy in need a restocking fee unless it's defective.
It sounds similar to you just get a machine beside Windows Vista and not enough memory. That's your problem near internet connectivity and slow load times. Vista's a cramp.
I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but I'd resembling to add my vent as very well... I took my old laptop contained by there for repair, they said $200 jus to look at is, but not to spend my money because it wasn't fixable (It kept turning itself off). So I bought a new one, which i love, for $3000. I give my old one to my neighbor for parts, and he have it running in just about 20 minutes, as good as hot. Turns out the battery nouns was bleak and it wasn't charging. He spent $30 on an external charger and now it's fine. Best Buy talk me out of getting mine fixed just to trade me a new one.
Sounds resembling your problems are with Windows Vista and not near the laptop itself.
Call your local news station, the one that does the consumer protection stuff. There's usually a local reporter who make it his or her job to support people resembling you in these situations - they primarily investigate what happened and try to embarass the company into doing right by you.
Make sure you're positive all paperwork and date.
Call HP and rip them a new one. describe them what is going on, and tell them Best Buy refuse to exchange, or return the DEFECTIVE unit. HP will usually allow you to dispatch the laptop to them (you will have to money shipping). and they will fix it. You will have to do A LOT of complaining though...but they will donate in.
Bypass Best Buy. They will not do much of anything to assist you.
That being said, Laptops are infamous for giving you the bare minimum to run the newer programs. They keep hold of the cost of the laptop down, by giving you the minimum of RAM, and other components
How much RAM do you have? I would recommend at least possible 1 gig.
In the adjectives, you would be better off buying a laptop direct from the factory owner. Then you don't have to accord with the "retail" aspect of the business.
You should never, ever, own to pay a restock tax for a faulty laptop.
Best Buy, is pretty much a "vend it and forget it," company. They only tender support for the products they sell, while they are trying to get rid of it to you. Once you get it home, they will promptly forget you exist.
!!!That bieng said...Windows told the computer manufactuering world, that any computer running VISTA , requirements to have at lowest 1 gig of
RAM, and a video card next to at least 128 MB of RAM...almost every computer entrepreneur, ignored what Windows said...so presently everyone blames windows, as usual.!!!
Computer maker like the theory that they can put in smaller number than the recommend hardware that Vista needs, and everyone will blame Windows isntead of the computer designer...
Even the most basic games recommend at most minuscule 1 gig of hit and at least 128 mb of video bump to operate smoothly. But again...the computer manufacters know that people tend to blame the software, not the computer, for the slowness.
I found this Link while I be surfing the Internet it has righteous Laptop/Computer Links >>www.myusedlaptop.com
You must spend your money for the best brand.
As I know HP and Dell are the best in laptops for a long time and they are terrifically reliable too. I trusted HP and I bought a HP laptop 2 years before, and still similar to the day I bought it. Didn't even enjoy to service it at least once up to immediately.
I recommend you to buy a HP (with experience) or Dell laptop.
On www.hp.com you can even customize your laptop. And also you can check the price.
Did you try using it as a wireless configuration. Or a Dial Up? Or did you use a low speed DSL? I have fixed this problem already. It is because the system will assume that the purchaser - Not you, The Store - properly upgraded the system. But that cuts into their profit stripe. So guess what. They give it to you RAW. The system WILL INSTALL PERFECTLY if you reinstall the software again from the auto reinstall service or disk. And afterwards run it while it is connected to a High Speed DSL live connection of agreed GOOD quality. It will after reset and update itself in nearly 1-2 hours. Really!
