Yes, it is other for now. I'm other a little concerned something like buying someone else's laptop off of Ebay, even if the price is perfect.
I work with a former Dell support guy and he agrees, it's a solid system.
He also have told me about plentifully of people buying used laptops they found out have been stolen when they call tech support.
Just remember, computer value depreciates immensely quickly, resembling some cars.
I'd recommend buying an XPS system (which is also Dell, but better hardware). You'll actually seize better customer service (if needed), because it's here in the U.S. instead of an overseas phone center.

Dude I merely bought the same laptop except it have a 100GB HD and a 256MB ATI Radeon Mobility X1400 (which sucks by the way) also I'm guessing your probably has that same card. I bought mine stale E-Bay for $1150. With the same warranty. You should never buy from Dell's website.
I don't know give or take a few the deal, but the laptop have all the RAM and speed you will inevitability to run modern applications for at least the subsequent 3-4 years.
That said, I'm assuming you are a light user who doesn't expect to player graphics-intensive games or do photo-editing/animation extensively.
Even for that the laptop is more than fine, but as other, you need to be adjectives edge, and everything change every two years or so.
That is way TOO expensive. You could find those specs on a laptop for lower than $1000.
Good machine (but one-sidedly I hate dell's). Too soaring of a price, should be no more than $1500, tops. I suggest looking for a similar HP at Comp USA or Best Buy.
