Is it possible to reuse laptop harddrive?

if my laptop fail, is it possible to take out the firm drive, then put it within one of those external hard drive crust, and use the hard drive that approach?

Answer:
Short answer...maybe. You can boot from external drives if the BIOS have that option. If your laptop is working presently, make sure you own the latest BIOS (see laptop manufacturer website). Boot to BIOS (delete key or F2 usually) and check for something resembling "boot devices" or "boot order". If BIOS allows you to boot from external, you are good!

If the BIOS allows it, you could boot from SDRAM, or a USB Flash knob...whatever. I hear bring up to date that you could even boot from something the elders call upon a "floppy".
