Why is my laptop slow?

your pc will build up temp files and tempInt files over time and slow you down more and more. Clean out your temp folders. Remove any unneeded programs. Defrag. Consider adding together ram. Clean up your four startup areas, removing unneeded TSRs.
intricate drive could be going bad... if you've only just installed any new programs (especially something similar to limewire) you should check for spyware and/or viruses
Sounds similar to you might be infected with a virus. Whatever you do, do not do a system restore, that wont bring care of the virus. I would suggest going to this tech site for backing, it's free.

Hi. Answer one is right. After loading Windows, open the errand manager and see what is chewing up your CPU time. You can try stopping the ones you construe are not supposed to be there and see if things speed up.
