The ways in which to wipe a knotty drive depends on why you want to wipe it.
1. If you want to make it unusable by anyone, don't wipe it. Drop it, smash it near a hammer, burn it, and spread the ashes to the four wind. You must totally destroy the drive to render it unusable by anybody else.
2. If you newly want to start over with a verbs slate, their are lots of programs to do the job (try www.download.com or www.tucows.com for a substantial and free selection). You can also use your Windows Installation CD (Windows 2000 and higher) to wipe the drive or you can boot near a Windows Start-up disk and run FDISK to do it.

yes, press f12 as soon as your pc boots, and pick cd/dvd or doesn`t matter what option comes up to run a computer from the cd drive, and put contained by your windows xp operating system cd and follow the prompts
when u log on right click ur c: drive and click format. it will ask u to put ur window cd in so u own something to run from. or u can boot from the cd by pressing F12 and follow the instruction on installing windows except only format the drive, dont go the extra step beside installing it.
Formatting the Drive ( F12 ) does a good ample "erase job" for most practical purposes.
But it does not Totally wipe the entire drive clean.
To do that requires a utility which overwirste the Entire drive next to "zeros",,,,,several passes.
Here's a moral Free utility which you download onto a Floppy Disk,,,and run it from that.
Result is as clean as a brand latest drive
