I can't believe i'm even asking this...?
i've had my apple/mac laptop for 6 years and its taken alot..its starting to die missing a switch..
and i'm not able to afford a latest one.
i know that PC's are cheaper (cause they are piece of craps) but i don't know what would be good one...i would basicly be using it for e-mail and internet..

get a macmini computer
PCs are tremendously good. You are prejudiced. lol. However, you can buy a desk top for $400 and any brand is perfect. Remember, 85% + of the world uses PCs. You will like man a part of prevalent stream, I guarantee it.

Based on what you use it for you hold a lot of option. Go to Sams Club or Costco if you can to see options. Otherwise turn out online for deals. I recommend a PC near an Intel chip. You will need a monitor, printer, grand piano, etc. since you have a mac but I've see perfect computers (nice packages) for around $300 of late recently.
if you're looking for PC laptop, I'd read aloud go beside dell or HP they both have clad pricing for what you get and are well brought-up quality. Dont agree to them sucker you into paying tons more for stuff you dont need.
Dells are reliable, and Sony Vaios are nice if you can afford one.
For like price, though.. you could get a low-spec MacBook. Or find one on eBay?
PC stands for PERSONAL COMPUTER SO youve have a piece of crap for 6 years Just a different brand ! If you dont like microsoft(I dont either) consequently buy a mac os to install on your new computer Mac does put up for sale soft ware thats compatable for other systems not just the ones they build !
If you can't afford a untried one, try www.craigslist.com in your nouns. Just be sure to hook everything up and make sure it runs beforehand you buy it.
