Answer:
A mac would be great for internet. They were built for iTunes, Safari can tab. They enjoy iChat and Adium for chating. A mac would be better than windows.
If you close to crayons vs. pens, later a mac is for you. Theyre very markedly simple machines. Be prepared for a lot of websites to not work capably in Safari (default network browser). You can get some of like or similar programs as windows, but the selection are fewer.
I LOVE Macs. And you will know how to use Myspace, AIM, and of course iTunes (it be created by Apple, duh). You will get used to adjectives the different Mac software AND will not want to go backbone to the Windows side...

Some sites you won't be able to use next to Mac... because of Safari (default internet browser) but considering all the other stuff you can do, getting a Mac is worth it!
I own been considering alike. There is something else to consider. You can download Windows program too and partition the harddrive to run any Mac or Windows. On a PC, it is not possible inflict Windows /Pc's are not smart enough.
I similar to the optional extra impression.
Isn't that what we do with cars?? Get the deep model, and drop in a fuzzy motor, blown out stereo system, honkin tires, yada yada.?
You should consider why you want a mac if its just for looks their are copious small PC manufactures that specialise contained by custom laptops at reasonable prices. Buying a mac would restrict the thrid bash software you can use but office is available for macs and you could use bootcamp but that defeatsthe purpose of buying a mac.
Common functions on the Internet work fine on a Mac, and at hand is a version of MS Office for it as capably. You can do the same things as on a PC, you a moment ago might need to cram a slightly different method. AIM, MSN & Yahoo Messenger are availble too. Sometimes the PC versions are more current, but the Mac newspaper usually catches up soon. Also, for a pattern browser, I'd suggest getting Mozilla FireFox. (It's available for the PC also)

One disadvantage is that when you see a cool new software title on the shelf, within may not be a Mac version of it but, and possibly not ever.
