Converting PC to Mac & inevitability to let go mature Word DOCs as Rich Text.?

Hello!
I don't want to buy the Windows software, but I want to store all my outdated WOrd docs that I used on my pc. Can I simply do a "let go as" RTF doc and that will suffice or do I have to copy and former everything over to a TextEdit doc?

Thank you!

Answer:
Save as .rtf should work. Also, you can get Microsoft Word for Mac. Also, walk to openoffice.org, and you can get a free point just similar to Microsoft Word that can read .doc files for Mac's.
