Answer:
i would dance with the HP pavilion, because its from hp
The pricier one is marginally better as its a bit faster (slightly) and have a slightly better graphics card. The difference is neglible so I would go for the cheaper one. To be honest neither will play the most up-to-date big games without slow down etc. You stipulation a better graphics card.
ACER, price and specs
This is my answer. Try getting an Alienware computer or a Dell XPS. Those are awsome and popular.
Neither of those computers will be a great gaming rig. They both have shared memory and it doesn't look approaching they have a faithful graphics processor .

Result: Anything that uses 3d will slow down (meaning any newer game).

They both look like honourable rigs for other stuff and the Acer would be my choice for overall performance because of the Intel processor but for games I would hold on to on looking.

What would I look for? Check for a dedicated graphics processor next to my two favorites being Nvidia 7600Go or 8600M. Asus have inexpensive models using those graphics processors (as do many other brands). I took a look around that site but didn't find any similarly priced laptops near good GPU's, sorry.
don't spend in dribs and drabs your money on a laptop for playing game buy a PC
neither !
both are not suited for gaming
