Old Mac programs on a latest mac?

I own an old Mac edition of Doom 2 on a CD, but I own a Powerbook G4. When it brings up classic Mac, it says there's a problem and it won't tolerate me install it. Is there anyway to still use outdated Mac programs and get them to work on a hot Mac?

Answer:
A program called rainbow should allow you to use elder programs, (backward compatiable) If rainow is not working, it's more credible to be an error on the cd
Have you installed Classic from the Install Disk?
