Forget fixing video display problems. Who will do it?
It won't happen. And variety sure that it's not just display or settings problems.
Who pays shipping?
Unless it's a legally recent high-end machine, the cost of fixing it would be more than it's worth. The LCD peak is the single most expensive part on a laptop, Mac or PC. If it dies, you're usually better sour just buying a replacement.
Of course, the laptop is still clearly usable if you hook up an external monitor, so I sure wouldn't throw it away. What's it worth? Whatever you can get for it.
It deppened on what iBook it is If its a G3 it's not worth fixing it urself. If It a G4 and you wanna hang on to it then fix it. An iBook Display will cost in the order of $300 - $450 USD, then you enjoy to gave some one put it surrounded by, which could be about $100 - $150 USD. so to fix totaly it would be any where on earth from $400 - $600 USD. Hope that helped.

PS. if Computer still underneath Apple Care, Apple with pocket care of it, as long as it wasn't your scorn.
I can tell you exactly what have gone wrong. YOUR LCD IS NOT BAD!!!
If you can hold a flashlight up and still see the screen it money that the back bedside light is out on your display.
There are a few places that sell the fragment for around $150-200 but then you hold to be able to skillfully cart apart the whole laptop, so i.e. probably not a good opinion.
At a Apple Store you could probably get it taken aid of for quite a bit more than what the piece is worth.
The other option is buying a righteous top case (that is the top cover + LCD) past its sell-by date of somewhere like eBay, but that still requires other of taking the laptop apart.
Hope that helps.
The cost for buying a modern LCD is from about 300-450 dollars. Installation will be just about $100+ but free if you can do it yourself. It's really complex and includes taking apart most of the iBook
