Most of the time you should be able to hold down the power push button, or most laptops have a most important switch that cuts power no matter what. As far as the mobile, its really not a great idea to verbs the battery when its running, its kinda close to your heart just stopping... your body go into shock. The laptop's intergrated circits are very markedly fragile, even if you think it wouldnt hurt anythings unnatural things can happen. if you must do it, (its the singular way to bring it to turn off) then shift for it, but i would try not to make a habbit out of it.
As long as you are in the vicinity a plug, plug in the laptop and bear out the battery... this will increase life span, and also, if even if you plug it in, you will shorten its natural life when you are using it, due to the fact you are charging the mobile while you are pulling from it.. they dont like it too much..
