contrary to what the above society have suggested, my laptop is a bog standard dell near 1.5ghz cpu, (obviously) integrated graphics and 512mb ram and it isn't by any system 'slowwwww' when running vista, it's as quick as xp during middle-of-the-road operation - try it and you'll see for yourself.
incidentally i'm talking going on for windows perfect here too which supposedly doesn't run with anything smaller amount than 1gb of ram according to the intermingle above so for all the folks who think they know better they should've if truth be told tried it themselves.
obviously some features such as the aero chalice interface and the flip3d alt+tab replacement are only enabled if your graphics card is supportedbut otherwise the specs of your computer will run a short time ago fine unless you're hoping to run very memory/cpu creamy programs or games alot.
i only uninstalled it because it does indeed 'suck', but for the transcription this is my machine which apparently according to everyone musn't be running window vista ultimate edition:

the run into meter in the sidebar as you can see is comparatively high for ordinary usage, but this is because i allocate high priority to windvd so that it doesn't skip on the occasion i'm running alot more than windvd and utorrent.
Unfortunately you wont be able to upgrade that laptop to allow an upgrade to Windows Vista:(
You would need to get hold of a new cpu and investigational MB,1-2Gb RAM,decent PCIE Videocard etc etc...the guts of a alien system basically
You should be fine beside a dell like that. I would other recomend running vista. You should be fine for vista (prodiding you don't have resembling a 5 gig harddrive or somthing rediculous similar to that)You also need atleast a 40 see harddrive. however for areo you need a obedient graphics card. Though 512 mgs of ram is clothed you will get a much better experiance next to a gig (go for it) you also stipulation a dvd burner and ofcourse... windows vista. If you don't wan't to buy it after I would suggest a torrent. Like on mininova.org I han't had much luck surrounded by that area all the same. They're are also cracks for it so you should search for that. Not that legit isn't also a virtuous option.
