USB 2.0 on docking station for compaq presario 2100?

I enjoy a Compaq Presario 2100, which unfortunately individual has USB 1.1 ports (no USB 2.0). At the time (4 years ago) I didn't even ask, because why would anyone vend a laptop with USB 1.1 connections?

Anyway I've looked at some of the docking stations for the Presario, and I saw some that said that they have USB 2.0 connections.

I wondered if anyone had tried something close to this out and if in reality the new connections be USB 2.0 speed.

Answer:
To answer your first question, 1.1 USB ports would be sold because it is cheaper for the company to vend, maybe not by much, but when you get rid of millions of them, i guess anything to cut a corner works.

No, the docking station will not work at 2.0 speed. The USB ports, no matter where on earth connected, will only shift as fast as the jumper connected to the motherboard. Since your connections are 1.1, the docking station will only shift 1.1. It only have the potential to go 2.0 speed.

It would be one and the same situation if you had a 10x speed cd burner, and bought 52x speed blank disks, they would still individual burn at 10x speed.
