Is it okay to buy an HP laptop from Costco?
Is Costco's return policy pretty good? Should I buy the extended service plan?

Usually the manufacturer's have a one year warranty. I'd compare it to a similar model from Dell and Toshiba to see if indeed it is other and forgoing a longer warranty makes sense.
The bottom file is to make sure it have the features you want: size, weight, freestyle life and will run your applications. Dell just this minute spent $200 million to improve their customer service and I hold not recently hear people complaining as much more or less Dell.
As far as laptops go if they work the first 30 days afterwards you should not have any issues for several years. If you move it around deeply then that might increase the issues. I would not buy the extended warranty.
ALWAYS BUY THE FULL WARRANTY. Dell's post Dutch auction service is by far the best out of any company. It doesnt matter so much where on earth you get the computer from or really the brand, it is getting the warranty i.e. important. computer parts are so expensive to replace. Even the most assiduous people own their computers break down, its just a reality of life.
I bought an HP laptop from Costco when i started college 2 years ago. At first it run great, coolest thing i ever bought. Then over the subsequent couple of months it started having problems disappeared and right the burner went out, it kept freezing, etc. And im pretty learned about computers and i still couldnt prevent alot of stuff. So after after a year, i couldnt keep the point on more than 60 seconds in need it turning off. So my warning to you, is before, find out what the Extended Service Plan covers, and create sure it covers batterys because they all die inside 1-2 years. Just make sure the extended warrant plan doesnt screw you over within the end, especially when i use to work for best buy they other said how they give you a latest one right there surrounded by the store and they never did they shipped it off, sometimes they will explain to you any B/S to sell the computer and i didnt swot up it wasnt true until after i quit.
