I am buying a Macbook for College, is it worth it to carry 2 GB of memory instead of 1 GB of memory?

I am planning to buy a Macbook for college. Is it worth it to kind this improvement. It costs 158 dollars to do so. I plan on using this mostly for college work, internet surfing, and maybe to use Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2.

Answer:
if you have enf $$$ later buy 4GB that will work good near those games specially
I don't think so. It's usually not worth it if it costs more money. 1GB is satisfactory. If it's in thorny drive space then do any and get a window laptop with more space. If it's within RAM Space then it's not worth it.
do warcraft and starcraft work on the MacOSx? more memory is other good if you can afford it... 1GB contained by reality is sufficient, but if you can afford it, you might as powerfully go near 2GB... thats just rather bit of "furture-proofing" that can go a long channel
Get the 1GB of RAM. You can always upgrade it if you inevitability to later, and seriously cheaper too!
Hiya,

The only authentic question you enjoy to ask yourself here is what you will be using your laptop for. If you only needed to do the things you stated above then 1gb would be more than ample. You can type documents and surf the new beside 128mb RAM., As for warcraft the recommended specs are 1gb. However you will notice a difference within speed between 1gb and 2gb.

The only physical advice i can tender is that if you can afford the $158 then i would draw from it. However if you opt for the 1gb version you will stil know how to do exactly the same things.
You'll be fine beside one gig, that's what I hold on my windows computers.
obtain as much memory as you can when you buy a computer so 2 gb is a more useful choice
I'm a PC guy, but surrounded by my experience you can never have satisfactory RAM. Especially if you're going to be doing any gaming or multimedia stuff.
Hello, 1GB is plenty for your usage, I would not spend an extra $158 on that. Also if you still want to add extra memory, newly make sure, use Apple made, as third delegation memory may sould cheap, but apple does not support, as well third carnival memory causes lots of overall funtionality problems.

You can also ask for the student discount, other retailers may not furnish you any student discount. Apple also gives you discount on Apple Care Protection Plan (two years extended warranty).

I would suggest you to buy your macbook beside one GB memory and if you find out later on that one GB is not sufficient according to your requests, you can always buy it latter and it's very natural to install yourself and let one of Apple Store (if you own any in your nouns if you have any) to do for you or send for apple support, they can walk you through step by step (you bring back 90 days complimentary support over the phone).

I have some information for you as:

The answer really depends on how much and for what your system is used. Upgrading is confident and cost effective. RAM is used every time you clear an application, download, play a game or simply turn on your computer. Additionally if you work beside or plan to work with digital audio and video more strike is a necessity.
Novice User / Administrative
If you use your computer to send and receive email, do for a while word processing, and are starting to surf the Web, you can get by near 64MB. However, you would benefit from going to at least 128MB of memory.

Basic User
If you are spending more time surfing the internet, sending and acceptance email, and doing word processing along with other applications, you can receive by with 128MB, but would benefit from going to 256MB.

Professional / Feel the entail for Speed!
If you are running multiple business applications, want to play the newer video games and/or work with graphics, you can find by with 256MB, but your computer speed would benefit greatly by have 512MB.

Advanced Professional
If you work with high-end graphics, CAD software, digital similes, or video, you can get by near 256MB, but would benefit greatly by installing 512MB of memory or more. Right now our 512MB memory modules are available at incredibly low prices.

Graphics Design Professional
If you are, or plan to be, a professional graphics designer, use CAD or modeling software, digital similes or video, you can get by near 512MB, but would benefit from going to 1GB of memory or more.
I think that 158$ if you can really afford to it is worth it. You can see the speed diffference within your mac when you use programs or start it...and if you are a gamer..definetly 2GB is the way to be in motion because Macs arent always great for gaming when they come. If you are merely going to use the computer for just a couple things such as Microsoft Word or AIM and not use copious programs..definetly go next to the 1GB...but if you feel you are going to use more programs and want to grasp more speed out of them...2GB definetly the way to dance. It matters how your going to use the RAM. Your college work...1GB is satisfactory... internet surfing will be good..but 2GB even better...and Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 I would be in motion with the 2GB (if you want to run verbs and fast) if I can spare the money very ably.

Hope this helps.
short answer is no. the longer you loaf, the cheaper that memory is going to get, and even near some pretty severe applications running simultaneously 1gb is enough.
.
Don't a short time ago look at the RAM, though 2GB is adequate unless you're using an intense graphics program.

Get the BEST video/graphics card you can afford - you'll be glad you did. If you're an engineering main or Computer major it matter. English major or Afrikan Studies primary, not so much.

Best wishes,
pup
.
Surf the web, use MS department, iTunes, etc, 1 gb is plenty.

Use graphic intensive programs such as Photoshop or your a gamer, afterwards 2 gb is worth the cost. They'll run faster, especially when you have to render (convert) significant files into something else. Or you need multiple window open for Photoshop.

Normal everyday computing and 1 gb is plenty.

Hope this help

Peace
