Is it worth it to upgrade my laptop?
HP - Compaq Pavillion dv8301nr
RAM- 512 MB
Total Disk Space- 60gb
Processor- AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-34
Graphic Card Memory- 128mb
I know i obligation to upgrade the RAM and disk space, but i'm wondering how much it will cost me. I want to delete everything off my laptop and install Vista Home Premium but my laptop doesn't enjoy enough RAM. This computer is rather new and i'd abominate to have to buy a exotic one.

You have plenty of RAM. You can even run enterprise edition of Vista on it. One of my examination machines is an old eMachines m6811 near an Athlon 64 3400 processor in it which predates the Turion 64 and I own 512 M on it with Vista Enterprise on it. I used it to exam RC1, RC2, Ultimate and Home basic on it and it runs fine.
Now I would spend a bit money to upgrade the machine and I would do the following base on my budget.
(1) Upgrade the memory to 1 Gig
(2) Upgrade the memory to 2 Gig
(3) Upgrade the HDD to a 7200 RPM HDD
(4) Upgrade the HDD to >80 Gig @ 7200 RPM.
You can read the list within this manner:
Spend money to upgrade at least possible to 1 Gig. If you have a moment or two more to spend make that 2 Gig.
If you still own more money to spend, make sure you acquire a FASTER hard drive over a larger frozen drive.
As a side note, Vista will due your video card so you will probably want to turn off AERO once you get hold of it loaded. I also have to be frank next to you in that Vista works best on dual core device. If you take alike machine and nouns XP Pro or Pro 64 on it you will find that it will be more responsive than Vista and I have not found a compelling idea to upgrade all of my laptops to Vista.

I'm not sure how much it would cost because that depends on what RAM your running and if you enjoy 2 256mb sticks or 1 512 stick. Hopefully 1 stick so its not full. If I were you I WOULD upgrade the RAM, and the harddrive if you really want a bigger one.
Upgrading to Vista is your choice. It will be convinient to make that upgrade next to the new easier said than done drive if you get one.
It will cost you in the order of $30 bucks for a cheap usb external hard drive and I don`t know $50 or a little smaller amount for another 512 mb RAM chip.
(BTW, Vista isn't very devout, and most people don't inevitability all the stuff that Home Premium provides but that's lone my opinion.
DONT!! Add the push, but not a good conception to upgrade to Vista. You could run into more problems than its worth. PC's around the globe hold been have problems with upgrading to Vista. From what I take in, it is just in the region of the same point as XP Media Center Edition, which has virtually no issues upgrading to.

Vista is heavy on graphics cards- your current integrated GPU (if you are lucky) will pass you a 'graphics' and 'windows experience index ' score of around '2'

I a moment ago purchased my new ASUS laptop near 1gb ram and 160gb frozen drive from zipzoomfly and IT has vista (had). Problems from the start..so i put XPpro. 256mb faithful video too! I couldn't even tell i upgraded since my dated laptop was a 1.6ghz and have xp.
Now, with XP the piece FLIES!

Adding RAM is honestly easy. You can jump to best buy and have them do it for you or do it yourself and buy it from New Egg.
