Hard disk size sony vaio vgn-n11s/w 100Gb showing individual 80Gb?
Answer:
Sony has a hugely bad mannerism of splitting the hard drive into two partition. The second smaller partition which is holding the rest of the 100gb knotty drive (i.e. 20gb) is where they expect you to store music and video. Just check your file structure lower than My Computer. You have the C drive which you are aware with, but after you should have a D drive which is also for matching hard drive....it's purely been partitioned and given a different drive missive. This is one of the many reason that i do not like sony.
Pull it out and see what it say on the back. It sure looks similar to you got ripped.
Try a bios upgrade. Sometimes a severely old bios doesn't see sizeable drives properly. You also may have some unpartitioned space on the drive.
Click start-->my computer. Is within a C and D drive listed underneath the Hard disk heading? If so, windows partitioned your drive to store spinal column up data.
When you put a investigational hard drive surrounded by a computer it gets formatted..and that finances there is what is call a header installed on the hardrive and this takes up space..for example my unyielding drive on my laptop is a 120 gig but after the header information i closing stages up with a strong drive space of 107..you never get 100% use of a rugged drive not even as a slave drive..sorry for the bad communication..
