I hold recently purchased a HP Pavillion notebook beside vista installed! The sensor pad have the double click thing switched on so if i touch it within the wrong way things haphazardly open and its doin ma nut surrounded by! I was competent to turn this feature bad on my previous laptop with xp but cant come across to locate it on vista!
Any ideas how i would do this?

If you look at the bottom right paw of your startup menu you will see what looks like a touch monitor with legs. (There are green dots moving around on the eyeshade. ) If you place your cursor over the image it will speak Synaptics Pointing Device. Click on it and deselect the tap to click chance. Hope this works for you.
