Toshiba Satellite- no colors, but cheapish, and VERY reliable
I've had a bleak reputation with Dell computers, they break 50% of the time and thei customer service sucks
Personally I would stick to XP for awhile however, there are still alot of problems next to Vista

I don't know much almost laptops, but i know DELL just come out with adjectives of those new colored ones. I'm not sure how they work though because they are modern. My favorite kind is HP and i know you can customize your own laptop.

ASUS or ACER are probably the cheaper ones you should try to find with the specs that suits you.
IBM (Lenova) probably offer some cheaper ones now as they are designed and made within China.
As said, dont go for Vista even so. There are just so copious ppl with Vista and wanting to return with back to XP. Check the reviews on Vista, it's cool...but conceivably 1 more year then will be near fewer bugs.
Stick near XP, and get a HP, they're pretty virtuous and they don't overheat like Dell's.
In my experience, it doesn't thing so much as to the brand name...stir with the one that have what you are looking for and has the best warranty. Personally though, I buy Dell computers but I would not be anti purchasing from another vendor considering the warranty be a good one.
You can receive a refurbished one from Dell for a reasonable price and buy a skin for it that are liscensed by Dell, which are sure to fit your laptop.
I newly bought two laptops in the concluding 6 months both were hp and I haven't have a problem with any one. I would also say it is presently safe to buy one beside vista. All my software and printers work and i have have no problems with it at adjectives.
Cheapest pink one is the Dell 1420, but it goes for roughly 200 dollars more. You might check for coupons it might be close to your price.
Toshiba makes the best laptops. I would notably recommend them.
