Can a stolen laptop beside wi fi be recovered?

my laptop be stolen a few days ago from my apartment...a sony vaio, windows xp, wi fi, but none of those tracking software installed.

Answer:
Nope, not probable at all.

You probably don't own the MAC address of the wireless NIC, which would be the first thing you obligation. Even if you had it, you wouldn't hold the authority to trace where it go, plus it would be difficult to do. Sorry...
well, you can report to the police, and you can try to describing the laptop seller (especially second foot laptop seller) in your town more or less what happen to you and dispense them your laptop production number, and ask them to tell you if someone supply it to them.

but if you ask if you can track it if it use the wifi to internet, theoritically it's possible, but in practice, it almost impossible .
if using internet, it can be tracked down
I quality really bad for you. Its an awful inkling. But I don't see much of anyway to do this. However, I can share a unique story. A coworker reported his Dell laptop stolen. A year subsequently he leaves the company. A while after that, Dell calls us and said someone beside your stolen laptop needs a replacement portion, and here is is name and address. It be my former coworker and we sent the police to his house. Bummer for him.
