replacement screens
walk back to the store where on earth you bought it from. if you cant then appropriate it to future shop or a computer hardware store and they can fix it for you. the cheapest process to fix it, is to fix it yourself. but that would be difficult if you don't know much about computers. the best piece is to go to a computer hardware store or computer repair shop to gain it repaired.
ouch ive been within before your best shot is to transport it in to compaq support they can fix it excluding that it is impossible to get a peak for it

1. Unfortunately, there's no way to repair a cracked peak. It will have to be replaced, and usually the entrepreneur is the only one who will do it. The worse communication is that the screen is the most expensive member of the laptop. Good news ( I hope) is that if you own home owners or renters insurance, most of them will cover the damage.
2. Shoot the dog...
If it is underneath warranty I would go through HP/Compaq to see if they can fix it. If not, it would probably be cheaper to hunt around for a replacement (such as on ebay or a similar site) and enjoy someone install it for you (or install it yourself if you know how).
For what you are going to spend on a new eyeshade, you might think roughly a new one. Cant find a 300 series for compaq, but at hand is a 3000 series. Their LCD is about $400.00 only for the part. Installed will probably run you another 150 or more for labor. Now you are surrounded by the price range of a brand new laptop.
