I similar to Vista and Mac OS. I use them both - one on my desktop, the other on my laptop. I'd probably recommend Mac OS - less problems, more immobilize, more stable.
Leopard, at the soonest will be available around July, but really Tiger is already fantastic. I would definitely recommend OS X over any Windows operating system although I am not close-minded ample to call Windows crap.
I haven't used/tried Vista to compare it next to Mac OS X, what I can tell you is Mac OS X is a stable OS. Leopard is supposed to be out contained by October of this year.
