Can I reformat my laptop and use a restore disc my desktop on it?

I want to reformat my laptop. I don't enjoy a restore disc for it. I do have one for my desktop however. Both hold the same running system ( Windows XP Home). Can I use the disc from my desktop on my laptop?

Answer:
Well you probably could, but i wouldnt because it could be a risk. I lost my for my computer, so i go onto the website and ordered it for free but like 5 bucks shipping. Got it 4 days next. I would deffinatly suggest that! Hope this helps!
No. A restore disc restores adjectives the drivers and stuff too, and your laptop would have completely different guts inside than the desktop for that to work. It'll do it, but when you reboot you'll bring errors galore.
technically there is no problem, but at hand could be legal issues. Probably your cd comes near a license for one computer installation only
You can but it will ask you for the Product Key and it probably won't turn through...I tried it with my laptop too but it wouldn't purloin the key...The 30 Day piece will just show up at the bottom and you might own to reformat it again...so good luck to you..who know maybe it will work..
