Can I use pcmcia card instead of built contained by wifi, if faster?

I own centrino wifi on a laptop but the connection speed is lone 11mbps.( another laptop is 54mbps, so it isn`t the router )
Can I either replace this built surrounded by network card or get hold of a pcmcia network card & switch this wifi past its sell-by date to get it faster?

Yes, you can disable the internal wireless and use a PCMCIA card (I've done it on a few laptops).
The simple answer is "Yes", but do you really have need of a faster connection? 11mb/s is faster than a typical domestic broadband Internet nouns so if you are using your laptop at home to surf the net after your broadband connection is the speed bottleneck.
