Answer:
you probably own the wrong type of dvd-r discs. There are dvd-r discs dvd+r discs and dvd-ram discs. Consult your manufacturer's handbook to find out which type can be used near your laptop. If you use the wrong kind you will hold the results that you've been have.
Well, I don't want to sound approaching a knucklehead, but if you are using a rewritable DVD disk, one usually has to format it first.
Also sort sure that you do in certainty have a DVD burning program installed, not lately a CD burner. The DVD burning program will also install the required DVD codecs. A freeware one is here: http://www.cdburnerxp.se/
Sometimes one have to update their firmware on the burner first before the DVD partially of it will work, (for some unknown reason). Before you do that check out the first two items that I mentioned in this response.
OOPs, I see that your drive is a dual veil job. You might want to produce sure your burner program is capable of doing dual division drives. I think there's one out in attendance somewhere called 'DVD Next Copy' that does dual layer, but it's not free.
Your drive should have come near capable burning sofware, but who know.
