How do i protect the touchpad of my laptop?

This is my first laptop next to a touchpad n so im worried that using it very commonly might cause the touchpad not to function properly. Is it true that using the touchpad too habitually can spoil it?
If so then what should i do, should i attach a mouse to my laptop to cut down the use of touchpad?
Please push for me on this.
Thanks to all.

Answer:
i use a mouse, it's closely easier. I'l use the touchpad when traveling
I'm on my second laptop with a touchpad. The first one adjectives out after a year and a half, but I never have any issues with the touchpad. It never become any less sensitive or anything and I used it 4-6 hours everyday. The simply problem with the touchpad is that it's not appropriate for game playing.
They be probably referring to the fuzzy little ball doodad that be on laptops in yesteryear.. Wore out some of those, but never the modern ones. They are built to use.
