My power on my Dell Inspiron 2200 keep shifting between AC power & battery-operated power, how do I stop this?

I've search the Dell support site, but don't see any related articles to troubleshoot this problem. Is it my AC power cord or do I need to hold the laptop connection fixed, or is it something I haven't thought of?

Answer:
Here it go. Take a pen and stick in the place you would stick the ac plug(in the computer). Try to move it around. If it is loose, nearby is your problem. If not, take the ac adaptor to a computer repair shop or electrical store and hold them check it. If your dc jack(where you plug the ac adaptor into the computer) is broke and under warranty, you are going to own to fight next to Dell to get it fixed right. If it's not below warranty, then it will cost between $200 and up to gain it fixed. Don't fall for the places that can fix it for $50. It take about 2 or 3 hours to fix. The tech have take the laptop completely apart so I do not recommend doing it yourself.
It could be the AC Adapter, or it could be the port on the laptop you plug it contained by to. If it's still under warranty, nickname Dell and get it fixed.
It's probably in recent times the cord. You should go to a computer repair place and see the problem and possibly buy a untried one.
u might have a loose nouns someplace. Check all possible areas including power outlet, adapter, jack underneath and the adapter.
Good luck.
as I understand it, you will walk to battery power, when the ac go out. do some trial and error work. check cable tightness, inspect power plug, inspect wall plug, wiggle the power cable trom wall to the battery-operated unit and see if any things works or stops working
i presume you have to check that everything's surrounded by place first and that the electricity is fine before getting another adaptor or going to bring back your laptop checked .
I thought mine was the cord (year and a partly old Inspiron). Well throwing $40 at a cord be useless. I had to finally steal it to a repair shop and throw $40 at them. They couldnt help me and kept my money for the sensible information of who could help. I consequently resorted to "micro fix" which is a company who sauders things internally. That damage be $110. Someone in Pakistan (Dell customer support) said it be THE MOTHER BOARD! Bottom line: Never buy a DELL!
