Can I replace the hanger-on assembly beside the headphones and microphone jacks surrounded by my Dell XPS Laptop?
Answer:
i have equal problem with my xps gen 1. my headphone jack broke. you can buy a up to date fan next to the headphone and microphone jack from the dell website. they sell it for approx. $14 or also from http://parts-people.com/ for abt $30.
Can you replace the follower assembly WITH the earphone and microphone jacks?
You could probably replace them individually, but I probably wouldn't replace the adherent with something completely unrelated to it...
You can replace the follower fine, but the headphone jack is built onto the motherboard and cannot be replaced without pretty apposite knowledge of electronics and a investigational jack. You will probably need a undamaged new motherboard.
i wouldn't, in need the fan your computer will probably overheat. You could try vacuming out your follower or buying a new one. For receiver and microphones, you could probably just buy a cheap video card and put it into a PCI slot.
To answer your press...
No.
The earphone and microphone jacks are soldered on the mainboard. Replacement requires a brand new mainboard.
Replacement of the fan/heat-sink assembly requires complete dis-assembly of the laptop and should only be attempted by a qualified technician.
Your XPS may still be below warranty, I recommend you begin by questioning for any recall notice or warranty information that would apply to the issues you are having.
