Definitely go next to a Mac. Macs are much more user-friendly, they come with iLife (which is software that you can certainly use, unlike that trial crap that PC's give you), and they are much smaller quantity susceptible to getting viruses. I made the switch to Mac after going to art arts school, and I don't think I will ever buy a PC again. Even if you have need of a PC application you can still run it under Boot Camp, Parallels, or other virtual PC software. And don't bother waiting for Vista because its only a rip-off of OSX, we've had adjectives those "innovations" for years.

I have both a PC and a Mac, and I hold totally abandoned the PC, I expurgate images like mad, and play with movie. Mac's iLife is faultless for that, and it comes included in the computers. Switching to Mac be easy and worthy.

As a graphics and digital arts educationalist I work n both comfortably, but always come put money on to Windows - especially since using Vista. I won't touch Intel with a barge-pole (over-priced second-hand goods!) which automatically rules out buying one of the new Macs. I also don't close to the snotty-nosed attitudes often encounter in Mac circles ...an attitude explicitly promoted by Apple itself.
At the end of the time, it comes down to what you are comfortable with - here is not right/wrong answer here. Wait till Vista is released so that you can go into the shops and hold a play on both a new PC and a unknown Mac ...see which fits you best
I swear by Dell. Plenty of help and devout programs available. Mac runs good but not as various programs.
listen...i always thought mac be overrated and snotty...till i got one.. and yes they act much more effective than laptop...and actually better when it comes to not getting virus and have a computer than on top of eveything make your apartment look cool.
just the virus issue alone.and the bluethoot capability.make a suitable dcision.
mac all the process......you will not regret it........but don't throw out your pc..you will still stipulation it..........and vista. believe it..copy of osx. makes me wonder if gate borrowed some of the team from job for say a few billion....in good health see what happens when forbes reports job being worth 8 billion very soon............
