Im have problems on my laptop my cd-rw dvd-rom will not play dvd movies or games?

I'm sorry to own to tell you this, but the most feasible cause of your drive disfunction is a imperfect or damaged lens surrounded by the drive itself. The only means of access to rectify it is to replace the drive. There are a couple of things you should do first. You should make sure that the driver is functioning properly and that the system know the drive is there.
Here's how you do that:
Click on the start menu and goto "Control Panel".
If you are using XP, switch the porthole to "Classic View" if it isn't already.
Double click on the "System" control panel top open it.
In the porthole that opens, click on the "Hardware" tab, afterwards click on the "Device Manager" button.
The Device Manager window should presently be open. You should see a index of the installed hardware on your laptop. Go down the list and look for "DVD/CD-ROM drives". Click on this to expand it. You shouldn't see any examine marks, exclaimation or red crosses. If you do nearby is a software issue with your optical drive driver. Did it play previously? If yesyour system might be corrupt. Try restoring your system to an earlier restore point when you be able to play your dvd.

Hi laptop cd/dvd drives can be prone to washout due to their design, not much space in a laptop. I would try everything suggested by the answer above but should you necessitate to replace your drive it may be expensive. Cheaper option possibly just to buy an external dvd re-writer which will plug into your laptop via usb. Will still cost you roughly speaking lb40 though
