HP are worthy, Acer appear to be quite virtuous, ASUS is fairly exotic in the hobby, but they have a perfect name for desktop motherboards. Bear within mind that ALL laptops are VERY EXPENSIVE to repair, so consider a warranty extension and/or insurance as they are also easy to steal. Don't donate it unattended anywhere.
Depends what you want to do. I am a computer science student and usually watch movies also, I found HP pavillion to b appropriate.
