Factory restore laptop- dividing wall the concrete drive for Windows?

I want to factory restore my laptop and wall the 20 Gig hard drive to put the OS into a separate 'drive' to my information. What size of partition do i want to create for Windows XP Home and the associated Service Packs etc.

you need to find out the os size i infer it about 1.7 - 1.8 gb when you format you drive it will ask you to particion it but im not sure how to win the os on to the smaller part of the drive i come up with u will have to use trial and error

I would recommend giving the OS at most minuscule half of the drive. Even if it does not inevitability it now you may inevitability it in the adjectives.
