Factory restore laptop- dividing wall the concrete drive for Windows?

I want to factory restore my laptop and wall the 20 Gig hard drive to put the OS into a separate 'drive' to my information. What size of partition do i want to create for Windows XP Home and the associated Service Packs etc.

thanks

Jamie

Answer:
I'd split it into 10gig respectively side if I were you, because you'll entail about 1.8Gig for the operating system plus you'll requirement room to install your programs and you need to walk off about 2Gig free for the window swap file
budge for anything above 5GB.
you need to find out the os size i infer it about 1.7 - 1.8 gb when you format you drive it will ask you to particion it but im not sure how to win the os on to the smaller part of the drive i come up with u will have to use trial and error
I would recommend giving the OS at most minuscule half of the drive. Even if it does not inevitability it now you may inevitability it in the adjectives.
