Celeron is unsophisticatedly a lower clocked Pentium chip.
Celeron D is dual core (ie two logical processors)
Centrino is a mobile chipset comprising an intel processor and wireless card, amongst other things
Centrino Duo is as above however it uses intel's core 2 duo chip which is very economically suited to laptops as it runs cool and is much more power efficient than a pentium/celeron cpu.
If you can afford it, move about for centrino duo but if not walk for a regular centrino. Avoid celeron like the plague!!

The processor in its simplest form is what perform the pc's functions so it is really what determines the speed of the pc.
Most laptops don't hold as good a processor as a desktop, accordingly if you want speed a desktop is the way to travel.
This is not to say that laptop processors are discouraging, they are also in most laptops particularly capable. Intel have led the agency in processors up to that time but AMD also make exceedingly good processors. Either path the speed shall be detailed on the laptop specifics.

the celeron M (mobile) and Centrino had a better technology surrounded by consumpting a power supply, so you had a long use surrounded by battery contained by the laptop.

better you buy a laptop with Pentium processor inside.the price are not too expensive, and you hold to consider the brand of the laptop it self (Toshiba,Dell,Asus,HP) are the expensive one.
but Asia brand like ECS an other have a better performance near Pentium processor inside and with the low price too
